Top two pulling clear

ALL games in the Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League were completed last weekend, as Compstall and Romiley pulled away at the top of division one after Hayfield’s shock defeat at Dove Holes.

Division one saw Matt Baldwin take 7-84 as Dove Holes dismissed Hayfield for 161 before knocking the runs off for the loss of eight wickets.

Dinting defeated Hawk Green by 24 runs, Andrew Logan taking 7-30 as Green were all out for 189 after Dinting had earlier compiled 213-7, George top-scoring with 73.

Gary Wilde made 41 as Newton were 188 all out at New Mills, only for the hosts to be skittled for 145 as Koria returned figures of 6-62.

Tintwistle were also victorious, defeating Birch Vale by six wickets as they bowled out their visitors for 131, Martin Harris claiming 5-68 and James Poole 3-28. Matthew Robinson then hit 54 and Damian Weatherhead an undefeated 50 as Tintwistle reached their target.

Old Glossop went down by 101 runs against Romiley as they were all out for 123 chasing their visitors’ 224-9 in which Paul Eyre had figures of 4-48.

In division two, Charlesworth went down by eight wickets at Buxworth where they were dismissed for 146 batting first.

Chapel recorded a 33-run victory at Hadfield, James Hawtin hitting 35 not out in their 179-7 before taking 3-4 as the hosts were all out for 146.

Hollingworth defeated High Lane by five wickets, Dave Morris taking 5-15 and Sean Morris 3-26 as the hosts were dismissed for 122.

Mottram defeated Buxton by 15 runs, bowling them out for 99 having been dismissed for 114 batting first.

Elsewhere, Whaley Bridge were 10-wicket winners against a Broadbottom side who were skittled for 76.

Division three brought a 75-run defeat for Tintwistle at Birch Vale where they could only make 119 all out in reply to the hosts’ 194-6.

Chapel were beaten by 54 runs against Compstall as they were all out for 49 in reply to their opponents’ 103 all out despite Ashley Shepherd’s 4-21.

Dinting also lost, going down by 74 runs at Hawk Green as they could only make 180 after the hosts compiled 254-6.

That was the score which Hayfield rattled up against Dove Holes before dismissing them for 138, while Newton made 155-8 against a New Mills side all out for 94 in reply.

The other game played saw Old Glossop beaten by 149 runs at Romiley as they could only reach 66 all out in reply to the hosts’ 215-6.

As for division four, Broadbottom were victorious by eight wickets against Whaley Bridge, Welch hitting an undefeated 73 as they chased down their visitors’ 138. Fielding struck 102 as Mottram compiled 210-6 at Buxton before Moore took 7-19 to see the hosts all out for 33.

Mike Fitzgerald’s 134 helped Charlesworth to 174 all out at Buxworth, only for the hosts to win for the loss of seven wickets.

Barlow’s 5-25 saw Hadfield bowl Hazel Grove out for 110 before he made 31 not out to see his side home by seven wickets.

Osbourne (3-25) and Gibson (3-28) were among the wickets as Hollingworth dismissed High Lane for 140 before Akram hit 46 to see his side to a three-wicket victory.
