Mossley 1 - 3 Rossendale Utd
26/ 3/2008
A SECOND-HALF performance which got progressively worse saw the Lilywhites slip to their 11th defeat in 14 games.
Although Rossendale had most of the early possession, the spectators would not have known if both keepers had been playing cards in the dressing room.
The opening goal came eight minutes before half-time when David Boardman got between Rossendale keeper Lee Bracey and a defender to intercept a ball bound for the keeper.
As Boardman won possession while heading towards the corner, he was inexplicably brought down by Bracey who was beaten from the spot by Mossley skipper Lee Connor.
However, it was Rossendale who took control of the second half as a couple of substitutions saw the game turn in their favour.
Ben Lloyd netted the equaliser, tapping home after Phil Eastwood had struck the bar, before Lloyd returned the favour by setting up Eastwood to make it 2-1.
The visitors wrapped the game up when a Mossley corner was cleared as far as Rossendale substitute Matt Edgington.
He took advantage of Leon Henry’s slip to race clear and drill his shot beyond Ashley Connor.
Edgington should have scored a fourth but fired over after Eastwood had sent him through.
