FINDING the net: Ashton United’s Ryan Moore netted against Buxton on Bank Holiday Monday

ASHTON United boss Danny Johnson praised his players for keeping calm and producing back-to-back wins over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Having lost 3-0 against Leigh Genesis in midweek, the Robins bounced back to record wins over Boston United and Buxton.
The latter match saw Buxton reduced to nine men during the second half at Hurst Cross as Ian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Moore, Ben Deegan and Ben Smith all found the net with Mark Hume replying for the visitors.
Johnson said: "It was a shame (the red cards) because Buxton had got right out of the blocks and charged at us for the first 15 minutes. They didn’t really make our keeper work though, but they were lively and threatening. When we got our first goal though, the game totally changed and we started playing some good stuff before their indiscipline took over and helped us. Last year, we probably wouldn’t have beaten 10 men, we’d have probably scraped a draw, but the lads we’ve brought to the club have a winning mentality and they’ve brought that with them. They’ve played at a higher level and want to go back there with Ashton United."
