Tigers bow out with Boston

THIS game followed a similar pattern to many recent Hyde games whereby the Tigers take the lead, look comfortable for an hour and then capitulate and concede two late goals.

It was tough on Matthew Tipton though, who arguably, scored the goal of the season on 37 minutes when he curled home from 30 yards.

There was actually more excitement before the game when Hyde found themselves caught in traffic chaos and had to be rescued by the local police before given an escort to the ground which saw the team bus racing through the narrow streets.

With the home crowd buoyed by news that their club had avoided immediate liquidation, the Tigers threatened to spil their party when Tipton scored an exquisite goal.

Hyde controlled the game after the break and were desperately unlucky not to increase their lead on the hour when Gareth Seddon’s goalbound shot struck Tipton on the line and went wide.

That seemed to inspire the home side and Craig Dootson was forced into a number of fine saves before Boston levelled on 70 minutes when the unmarked Simon Weaver headed home from a corner.

The home side sensed victory as the Tigers had nothing left in the tank and, 10 minutes from the end, Jon Froggatt took advantage of Andy Teague’s hesitation to clinch victory and send the home fans wild.

There was still time for Jon Stevenson to strike the bar but Hyde had nothing left apart from taking a close look at themselves to see where it had all gone wrong in a calamitous second half of the season.
