130 limited edition pin badges

ASHTON United Supporters’ Club have commemorated the 130th anniversary of the Robins’ forerunners by commissioning 130 limited edition pin badges.
Each badge is individually numbered with number one being presented to Robins chairman David Aspinall at the club’s recent friendly against Droylsden.
The year 1878 had seen the men of Hurst add football to their existing cricket team to create the Hurst Cricket and Football Club.
Hurst reached the second round of the FA Cup at the first attempt in 1883, landing their first piece of silverware two years later when beating Newton Heath 3-0 to lift the inaugural Manchester Senior Cup.
In 1946, Hurst FC – as they were more simply known – changed their name to Ashton United, partly to acknowledge the absorbtion some years earlier of the old district of Hurst into the control of the Ashton-under-Lyne town council.
