TEACHER Andi Jones is feeling on top of the world after winning a tough mountain race for the third year in a row.

The 29-year-old runner from Stalybridge is celebrating with a holiday in Wales, after a hat-trick of victories in the Snowdon International Mountain Race.

Just a day before the event, it was unclear if the Salford Harrier was even going to take his place on the start line.

However, the temptation of making history by becoming the first man to win three in a row eventually proved too much.

Andi led from the start to complete the 10-mile course from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon in 66:02, a full three minutes ahead of his nearest rival.

He said: "It feels brilliant to win it and be the first to win three in a row. It’s a tough race, the weather was hot, and when you run all the way up to the top and back down it really kills you."
