AN 80th minute strike condemned the luckless Tigers to a sixth successive defeat.
It looked like a hard working Hyde would take something from the game when Steve Foster grabbed a 62nd minute equaliser, after Housham gave the visitors in the lead in the 23rd minute.
But the Ewen Fields faithful were left reeling when Gaughan sealed the points for the Cumbrians in the dying stages - hammering home from a superb Ellison lay-off.
Hyde fans will be hoping for a change of luck with the loan signing of experienced keeper David Felgate and the return of Martin Filson. These follow the loan signing of striker Kevin Leadbetter, alongside new recruit Lee Evans - both featuring in Friday night.
