First-half fire earns Bay the points

Colwyn Bay 2
Mossley 1

THE Lilywhites' first competitive visit to North Wales for some time saw them comeback deservedly pointless.

With a number of players injured or unavailable, Jason Beckford was left with 10 fit outfield players, two goalkeepers and two other subs who were never likely to leave the comfort of the dugout.

Mossley held out for 20 minutes before Jordan Goodeve slipped and let in Calvin Davies who, despite not hitting it cleanly, put Colwyn Bay in front.

Things deteriorated as Alex Kevan's 25-yard effort left Lee Bracey standing to double the lead.

Mossley were then down to 10 men as Rhodri Giggs was sent off for something he said to the referee, while they were fortunate to concede a penalty, or have Bracey sent off for handball outside the area.

The second half saw Mossley play as well as expected with 10 men and players out of position.

Chris Downey reduced the arrears from the penalty spot, but the hosts soaked up the pressure and even saw Bracey save a penalty after Kevan was pulled down.

Attendance: 188.
