Super Mario's goals in vain
Graham Mather21/12/2004
MARIO Daniel's hat-trick was not enough to stop Mossley tumbling out of their fourth cup competition this season, going out of the President's Cup.
The Lilywhites' first-half display was the best seen for some time, but they only had one goal to show for their endeavours.
Jordan Goodeve had shot wide from Adam Morning's corner before Rhodri Giggs' shot was tipped onto the top of the bar.
Daniel gave Mossley the lead, capitalising on a mix-up between the defender and goalkeeper to tap into an empty net.
If the first half was excellent, the second became a park pitch extravaganza as the home side levelled through Graeme Mitchell.
However, the defining moment came when Adam Morning was sent off after becoming involved in a spat with a spectator, an act both unprofessional and indisciplined from the youngster.
Warrington capitalised to open up a two-goal lead when Tickle converted a cross and Steve Latham's speculative effort found the net.
Daniel pulled one back when his shot through a crowded penalty area bobbled into the net.
Warrington then restored their two-goal lead when Heverin's flick enabled Mitchell to race through for his second.
Despite the lack of quality, it was end-to-end stuff which saw Daniel complete his hat-trick when a half-hit effort crept in from the corner of the area.
