Fixtures are frozen off

30/12/2004

THE holiday freeze put paid to the majority of the Christmas football involving our local teams.

The chief game postponed was the Tameside Nationwide North derby between in-form Droylsden and Ashton United.

However, they do not have long to wait for a rematch as they face each other at Hurst Cross on January 2.

Elsewhere, Mossley's UniBond League First Division match at Woodley Sports was another victim as were the games involving Abbey Hey against Glossop North End and Salford City against Curzon Ashton.

This weekend sees Hyde United travel to Radcliffe Borough on Saturday before hitting the road to Burscough on Monday.

New Year's Day also sees the second in the holiday double-header between Stalybridge Celtic and Southport.

Mossley entertain Brigg Town on Monday, while Curzon Ashton host Great Harwood Town and Glossop North End travel to Congleton Town.

No news on any rearranged dates for the weekend's postponements was available as the Advertiser went to press.
