United coach Copley's kids

30/12/2004

MANCHESTER United and England defender Wes Brown visited Stalybridge to check out the latest Red Devil wannabes.

He visited Copley Recreation Centre as part of the Football Foundation's Ambassador Scheme to see the work done by the Foundation and Manchester United's Football in the Community scheme.

The Foundation provided over £650,000 almost four years ago for eight small-sided floodlit artificial pitches - four at Copley and ther other four at Droylsden's Medlock Leaisure Centre.

United's community coaches provided training and information on healthy lifestyles for the Copley High School pupils.

Brown said: "Over the years I have seen what a fantastic job both the Foundation and Manchester United's Football in the Community Scheme do.

"It's great to come back and see just how many kids are now benefiting from these superb schemes."
