Pace plans charge for title

DAVE Pace has challenged his Droylsden team to kick on and aim for the Nationwide North title until it becomes impossible for them to win it.

Last weekend's 3-0 win over Moor Green lifted the Bloods into fifth spot, 17 points behind leaders Stafford Rangers.

While some managers in his position might be content with a play-off place, Pace is laying down the gauntlet to his players.

He said: "I won't give anything up until it's mathematically impossible. The players know that as well because they mentioned the play-offs and I want the title.

"My theory is that if you only go for the play-offs, you will end up missing out altogether.

"We had a few bad results early on and people started pointing fingers instead of getting together as a team.

"I've turned that round now, the camaraderie's right and I've left a couple of people out. Squad-wise, we've got as good as anybody in the league."

Terry Fearns made it five goals in two games with a brace against Moor Green last weekend with Chris Denham adding the other.

Although on the road on Saturday, Droylsden will be considered firm favourites when they make the trip to Vauxhall Motors.

With that in mind, Pace is hopeful that Fearns and Denham can continue their exploits.

He said: "They've had a couple of decent reults and I don't think it'll be an easy game."
