HALIFAX striker Andy Campbell put the Bloods to the sword on Bank Holiday Monday with a hat-trick to cap a fine display which at times left Droylsden chasing shadows.

Things began to go wrong as early as the fifth minute when they were caught napping at a free kick, Danny Forrest crossing for Campbell to convert at the far post.

The hosts doubled their advantage in rather fortuitous style on 35 minutes, when Campbell and Phillips were one-on-one after Killeen had put Campbell through.

Phillips just got there first but could not fully gather the ball which ricocheted off the Halifax striker and looped over the grounded Phillips before going into the net.

Campbell completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Jody Banim's clumsy challenge on Tom Kearney.

The scoreline could have been worse had Phillips not been in inspired form, denying Torpey, Griffiths and Campbell.
