THE Bloods came away empty-handed from Moss Lane on Saturday and can have few complaints.

All had started well for Droylsden as Jody Banim's ninth minute penalty was too strong for Russell Saunders after Chris Denham was adjudged to have been tripped by Sean Clancy.

However, that was all Droylsden had to offer for the next half hour as Colin Little went close and the livewire Chris Senior found the side-netting.

Carlos Logan saw his effort blocked with Paul Phillips stranded, while Denham curled an effort wide at the other end before the Alty struck level seven minutes before the break.

Gareth Morris gave away a needless free kick and Little stole a march on the Droylsden defence to steer home Gareth Whalley's free kick.

There was more of the same after the break as Steve Halford had to dispossess Senior once Danny Warner was caught in possession.

Ryan Shotton prevented Banim's strike from reaching goal after he had rounded Saunders before Alty then lost their keeper and Whalley, both to injury.

With no keeper on the bench, Jake Sedgemore went in goal for Altrincham which was surely good news for Droylsden.

The hosts rallied well around their stand-in though as Saunders' replacement, Colin Potts, set up Little's second goal with his first contribution.

Senior then lost his footing at the crucial moment but went one better on 71 minutes when he rounded Garry Burke and Phillips to tap home the third.

Six minutes later, though, Banim won and converted his second penalty to set up a grandstand finish.

Banim saw a free kick deflected over, Burke headed wide when well placed, while Fearns' stoppage-time goal was correctly ruled out for offside.
