Curzon comeback

Curzon Ashton...............4
Garforth Town................2

A SECOND-HALF comeback enabled Curzon to gain maximum points and maintain their unbeaten start to the league season.

Mike Norton had headed over early on for Curzon before their visitors took a seventh minute lead as the unmarked Richard Carrick headed home.

They came close to a second when David Carnell was forced to deny Brett Renshaw following Jason St Juste's run and cross.

The scores were levelled on 18 minutes when Chris Curley drove home from six yards after Rhodri Giggs' pass to debutant Doulgas Pringle was blocked.

However, Garforth went back in front when a dubious free kick was not cleared and St Juste made no mistake from 15 yards.

Norton sent another header wide and Pringle shot straight at Karl Spratt before half-time.

The second half became a procession towards the visiting goal as Giggs brought the scores level on 65 minutes, crossing for Norton to steer the ball home.

Having lost Pringle and Nick Allen to ankle injuries, Curzon went ahead when substitute Ryan Moore slotted past the onrushing Spratt with nine minutes remaining.

Curley's second of the game with two minutes left extended Curzon's lead before Josh Mitten and Norton spurned chances to extend the winning margin.

Attendance: 175
